Safe arrival

Well, I've made it to Sarasota.  After hours and hours and hour and hours (and hours) of driving, I got here.  The first day I made it as far as Tallahassee and then I decided that I needed to stop for the night (Are there normally pink elephants on the side of the road doing construction; or was I just a bit loopy?).  I stopped at the first hotel, a Best Western, gathered my bags after parking the moving van straight, walked the long, lonely road up to the lobby...just to find out they were booked full.  Graduation weekend.  Stupid FSU grads.  I then went on to a Motel 6, thinking that parents who send their kids to FSU are usually too good for a Motel 6.  I was partially right.  It was not completely full, but they had one room...and it was a smoking room.  At that point I didn't care, despite Nick's warning to not "catch cancer" in the room.

After a few hours of sleep, the road ahead was much easier than it would have been if I'd kept going.  I got into Sarasota about 11:30 am...or so I thought.  You see, this wonderful device called a Blackberry can surf the internet, alert me when I have email, be used as a calculator, page me when I have a service call, allow me to debrief my service reports (It can even be used as a phone), BUT it will not automatically change time zones.  That being the case, I had the wrong impression about what time it was all morning.  Even at 7am when I thought I was heading out at 6.
I had lunch with my dad at Checkers ( I had to have it.  We don't have them in Texas) we came back to unload the moving van.  My dad was able to help for about half an hour but my step brother, Bobby, helped me out the rest of the load.  I couldn't have done it without him.  My stepmom also helped immensely by getting some of the smaller boxes out that would have taken up our time and kept us from the big appliances and stuff.  We got everything unloaded and I proceeded to set our rooms up...which I'm still in the process of doing.
But today, I need to do a whole lot of things besides work on the house.  I've got to start work!
